As the name suggests, clear float glass is colourless and highly transparent when viewed face on with a slight green tinge when viewed on edge. If offers a very high level of natural daylight or visible light transmittance to pass through it and little resistance to the sun’s direct solar energy. Thicknesses produced range from 2mm to 25mm. It is also named Float glass in many cases
Float glass is made by pouring molten glass mixture from a furnace into a chamber containing a bed of molten tin. This process is sometimes called the Pilkington process. The atmosphere inside is strictly controlled. The glass floats on the tin and forms the shape of the container. Out of the tin chamber, the glass is sent into an oven called a lehr. it cools slowly at a specific rate there. This annealing process helps relieve the glass's internal stress. Cooling speed is critical to the success of the final product. And then cut to the proper size.

Glass with different thickness is applied in different cases, usually the 3-5mm clear glass is for some household uses, while the thicker glass sheets will be used in the commercial buildings. Clear glass will always be further proceed to be tempered glass, laminated glass, coated glass, so it is also called raw glass sometimes.
